new stuff on my etsy shop (www.lucky15.etsy.com) these are only a few things...as well as special orders for re-shirt yarn and produce bags.

Henny
we got two new additions to our house hold... henny penny (pictured above) and mildred (millie for short).  these two girls are so COOL!  i would have never thought that i would love two awkward feathered ladies but i am really enjoying just watching them troll the backyard.  they were Maryanne's birthday gift this year (but they are also, hopefully, going to be our tick control this summer)

Birthday maryanne
speaking of Maryanne.. she celebrated her 4th birthday in january!  she learned to ride a two wheel bike with no training wheels and she has really gotten into the "altered art" (i wonder from where).  she has even taken to saving things we might throw away and declaring that "she is going to make a project with them!"  she is really growing up fast!

Bathtime margot
Margot is almost 10 months old now...a little on the needy side (not at all like her sister) but funny!..and oh so snugly!! she is cruising and i think she'll be stepping out into the great unknown of free air pretty soon now.  she loves her big sister and it has really been awesome to watch the two of them together.
 Street-Fair-Window-Fl#19BD0
and don't forget it's street fair time!!  i have worked on the committee the last two years but this year a business partner and i took on the coordination.  so tell all your friends!!! march 7th from 11-5 the 2009 m7 street fair will be happenin'!! come support the melrose district and have some fun at the same time....go here for more info!
so anyways, no fear here that i have idle hands... but i am looking forward to slowing down (just a bit).  here's hoping that your year is starting off on a good left foot!!

our first harvest...

Harvest time
this is lettuce from our new garden... when i ate some of the leaves as i was picking them i had visions of my basics chef slamming his hand down on the table and exclaiming "TOMATOES!" while trying to explain to us newly coated freshman chefs what the tomatoes from his garden tasted like in comparison to the ones you get in the store... so there i was shouting "LETTUCE!" in my head.  So yummy and so well, refreshing to taste the food you are eating.. this lettuce has inspired me.
The breadfruit
speaking of being inspired... Michael, the kids and I tried a new restaurant on Saturday.  The Breadfruit (that is the name of the place) is a "Authentic Jamaican Grill."  those of you who know me might wonder how i ever ended up at such an exotic place as this.. so let me just tell you.  I sampled their jerk chicken when i participated in the Urban Affair a few months ago and I have been dreaming of it ever since... so guess what I had on Saturday and it was even better with the cole slaw, the grilled pineapple and the festivals (like a bread stick that is a tiny bit sweet and really good). food doesn't often make me happy.. this chicken makes me happy. I swear I was on cloud nine for the rest of the night...

so then last night i was inspired to use our inspirational lettuce to create a yummy Jamaican "inspired" salad!  Yummy!

and if anyone is dying for some of my creations of the sweeter source.. I am filling in for a good friend of mine this weekend at Tuck Shop... I'm not sure what I might come up with but I'll post the menu soon.

i'm ready

for the change... Congratulations Barack Obama..and I look forward to a better future in this Country.

wtf?

omg!

new craft skill!!!

Slikscreen
Ok so like a year ago I bought the Speedball Silkscreen Kit had some seriously big plans for it when I got it... So a year later I gave up and took a class (that's right it never made it out of the box..) and boy did it give me the inspiration to go for it.  The funny thing about silk screening is that it takes you so long to make the screen and just seconds to screen things that you kind of good crazy... Basically it TOTALLY ROCKS!!  So keep an eye out for some serious screening..

finally here...!

however small it may be... i finally got my Etsy shop up!!!  check it out and tell me what you think... i hope to be posting more this weekend so check back often... and remember buy one in every color!!!

Churchofcraftlogo_2

The next meeting of the Phoenix Church of Craft will be Tuesday October 14th @ 7:30pm at Modified Arts. Modified (as we lovingly call it) is locate at 407 East Roosevelt in Phoenix. (that is on Roosevelt between 5th and 3rd ave)  We will be sharing the space with an "art night" that has already been established and Felipe (from Modified) as well as Kimber (Superhero of the local scene) have so graciously allowed us to combine our meeting with Modified Art Night so that we can have a great place to meet...

This meeting please bring a t-shirt (more many), a canvas bag or any other item that can be silk screened on.. Rev. Meghan is bringing "Church of Craft" screens for all to use to make their own propaganda.  Along with that please feel free to bring your current project or one that you would like to start... and as always please feel free to bring a friend

If you are interested in learning how do do something please email me before the end of the week so that I can let others know that you are looking to learn, so they can be prepared to teach you.

With this new home it is my hope that we can start to work towards our mission to promote community through craft... so welcome back and we hope to see you there on the 14th...
