Good Times...

0421071838a_2 Last weekend I went to a lovely wedding (remember the dress from Frances).  I had such a good time, lots of funny moments...  But most of all I was totally moved by the love and support that the bride and groom's family had for eah other.  The funny stories the Bride's three older brothers had about her and the tears that the groom's brother had for him...  I was totally impressed and it inspired me to really be aware of the way that Michael and I raise Maryanne and her future brother or sister (some day).  Congratulations Ed and Christine!!! Here's to all the wonderful (and not so wonderful, but totally worth it) moments that you will encounter on your beautiful journy together..  !! Cheers!

Trunk Show...

NO not at Lucky...  I was at Frances today, getting a dress (so cute)New_dress for the much anticipated wedding of my good friend Christine (who is the owner of soon to open Palette {I will so be talking more about this}) and Georgeanne was telling me about the Trunk Show that she is going to have tomorrow... The show is for an artist named Kathy Loewenstern, who does these really amazing silver pieces (that you wear) where she incorporates Japanese Chiyogami paper, silver, and sometimes even your own pictures...  People you know if it's at Frances it's totally cool!!  So if you're looking for something cool to do tomorrow, go support your local boutique and check out the Kathy Loewenstern Trunk Show at Frances...  Remember what I say about Frances... "If I had a million dollars!!!"  By the way the show is at Frances 10a W. Camelback from 10-6...

Another Cool Place....

I am going to be making more of an effort to let all of you know about all the cool stuff I find here and there.  Especially my small business owner friends...  Mp_door_2 So let me introduce you to Melrose Pharmacy.  It's just up the road from us and it is the coolest pharmacy that I have ever been to.  Not like Walgreens at all..  You don't even feel like you're in a pharmacy when you're there.  Teresa is the pharmacist (and the owner, which means you have a problem or you need something special you can go straight to the top).  She has been open about as long as us (yeah I know, I should tell you gals about these cool places more offten) and I am so glad that she did.  Inside_mp She is a full service Pharmacy which means she can compound, get any script you need and usually cheaper then the big boys...  She brought in cloth diaper supplies for me when Maryanne was using them...  She even delivers.  So totally awesome!!!  Check it out Melrose Pharmacy is in the Wagon Wheel Building on Monetcito and 7th ave (really like two blocks north of us).

Easter fun!!!

Easter_basket This Easter we really had a great time.  It was the first year that Maryanne could really get into the egg dying (I know she's only two, so last year she wasn't into it...)  But this year she had fun using her crayons and markers and then of course there was the stickers which according to her were put in the box with the dye to use as faceDecorate_gracie_2 decorations while you are decorating eggs.  (along with the blue marker lipstick)  Her and Gracie and Michael had a good time dying all of the eggs for "Essa Bunni."  After the dying Michael and Gracie had fun mixing the colors to see what they would get.
Ma_decorating_eggs Gracie spent Friday and Saturday at my house until like midnight both nights to help me do the Easter cake...  I was really proud of her, the cake was pretty intense and seriously involved but she hung in there to see it to the end.  (Although she may never want to "help" me again...)  Here is the picture of it...  We made a Grapefruit and Orange Charolette with Citrus Cream Filling.  That meant we had to make ladyfingers,Easter_cake ciffon cake, the citrus filling which was the most involved cake filling I have ever seen and then we had to put it all together (Gracie had knocked out by that point).  I was really excited because we used lemons for the citrus filling from our own lemon tree and we used the grapefruit for our own tree too.  (would have also used our own oranges but we don't manadrine tree {just regular old oranges :)})  Anyways I thought that it came out great and it tasted even better then it looked...  For those of you savvy picture people that is paper that I used as a bow.  (see I can combine my two loves)...  Anyways, for the egg hunts.. in the morning we had one for Maryanne in the front yard.  Note_from_the_eb She was so excited about the Easter Bunny (he even left her a note).  She found all the eggs, however I am sad to say that not all the eggs made it through the trama of being thrown into her Easter basket... :)  She's still working on the eggs are delicate thing...
Then off to my mom's for Easter Dinner...  Two of the kids (in the family) are not really kids anymore (Maggie gets her driver's permit this month) so my mom wanted to do a different kind of "egg hunt." Easter_008_4_2 (here are all the kids being excited about the hunt)  So she used different colored string (one for each kid) and strung them all over the yard with little "treats" along the way...  Then you had to follow your string to the end where there was an "Easter basket" waiting for you.  Maryanne needed a little help but she had fun.  Sure beat the free for all that I remember when I was little... :).  Speaking of the baskets my mom filled it with candy.  (I mean a ton) and Maryanne proceeded to eat it all...  And then go an raid Gracie's room for more...  I figure if this and Halloween are the two times a year she gets to binge on candy...  (What's being a kid if you can't have candy)  Anyways, it was a good day, nice weather and a nice time with the family.  I hope everyone else had a good one too...Candy_necklace

Crafty de Mayo

I am so excited to announce the first ever Crafty de Mayo!!!  Ok so the next first Friday (May 4th, the day before Cinco de Mayo (hence the Crafty de Mayo)) Kathy Murillo (the Crafty Chica) and I are getting together to host the Crafty de Mayo festival on 7th Ave.  In celebration of Cinco de Mayo, we are having all sorts of crafters that are inspired by the Latin vibe.  There will be a great Latin reggae band and Kathy will be doing a really cool "make and take" (can you say matchbook shrine??)  I will post more details as we get them...  If you are a crafter and you are interested in participating in Crafty de Mayo please email me...

Mr. Lucky's Dream...

So now I can offically tell everyone...  Mr. Lucky got a new job!!!  He now works for Goodwill...  And for those of you who know him (and his collecting ways) this is his dreams job, the only bad thing is he can't buy anything at his own store..  He is really excited about this opportunity to work for a company that is growing (fast) and that is doing good in the world.  Plus I think he beat me on the New Years resolution... Now he works somewhere that is all about recycling.  Congratulations sweetie!!! I'm proud of you...

What I've been up too...

So some of you know that I have have been working on a new project at Lucky 15 (ok one of many).  For the last few months I have been working with Bright (an event gallery) to help to promote the custom invitation and event paper that I am doing.  Bright is a really cool concept and I am really excited to be working with them (Victoria and Kelly).  Bright is like a one stop shop for fabulous event planning...  Just check out their site (they explain it better then me) but I have been doing mock invites and paper for the table for their store in Scottsdale.  Last Thursday I participated in a "class" where I got to speak to brides about using paper and paper products to add their personal style to their event.  It was really fun and kind of cool that they asked me to be the "guest speaker."  The next set that I am doing in "American Vintage."  Stay tuned for that...  In the mean time here are some pictures courtesy of EME Photography of the first set I did for them...
