So I the big New Year's resolution for the store in 2007 is (tah dah!!!) classes. Ok, not just the classes but the whole package. I really want everyone to take some time out of their busy lives every month and do something for them!!! Learn something new or just take some time to be creative and express how you are feeling. So to help in that, the class schedules are going to be coming out every quarter (that is every three months) to give you all enough notice to make the time in your schedule for you. We are also trying to offer more times for the same class so that there is more of a chance that you will have the time. I am going to work hard to come up with classes that will inspire you and help you to discover the creative side that maybe you didn't know was there. Which brings me to this little disclaimer... If you have always wanted to take a class but thought that you weren't experienced enough or that the other people in the class would be better than you, I want you to throw that out the window for 2007 (and beyond). Art and creativity is about expression and individual release. True technically you might not be as good as the person next to you, but that isn't the point. The point is that you had a good time, that you feel good about what you did and that you took a deep breath and did something that made you a little uncompfortable and you discovered that it wasn't that bad. (plus, really practice makes perfect!!) So (please excuse the soap box) with out anymore delay....
The New Year's Classes (these run January-March)...
Back by popular demand, the Christmas Card Book is back. I did this one last year for 3TV to demonstrate what to do with all of your Christmas Cards (or other holiday type cards like birthdays, weddings, anniversaries, etc.). With it's funky binding and the ability to customize this, it is sure to be the perfect thing for your special cards. In this class you will complete the two covers (front and back) and you will bind ten - fifteen cards (depending on how fast you can thread). I'll let you in on a little secret too. I am using this binding for a line of wedding guest and photo albums that I am working on. This class is $45 and of course includes all of your supplies. Pre-registration is required and remember space is limited so don't hesitate...
Class Dates:
Friday, January 12, 6-9
Saturday, January 20, 2-5
Saturday, February 10, 10-1
Please call the store to register.
Over the last year I have discovered that there are many of you out there that do not know how to use a sewing machine. Not to worry... I really feel that this domestic skills (sewing, knitting, cooking, scrapbooking ;)) are extremely important. Just like holding on to your family traditions like Grandma Suzy's Casserole Surprise, I believe that if we loose these skills then we will loose a little bit of ourselves too. Plus sewing on your paper projects can help to add a little extra dimension that brings the whole piece together. Sewing machines can be intimidating but they are really simple and trust me if you can operate your cell phone, digital camera, and drive your car you can use a basic sewing machine. (now those fancy ones that have touch screens and all that, not sew simple) So please join me for this crash course in sewing machine operation. There will be a project that you will complete, but the main focus will be how to use the machine. So you will learn about threading the machine, the different stitches, tension and all the other basic things that you need to know to do the basic functions with a basic machine. The cost of this class is only $25. All the supplies will be included, however if you own a machine you will need to bring it. If you don't have access to a machine the store has one that you can use, the only down side is that you may have to share it with someone else, (not that sharing is that bad...). Pre-registration is required.

Ok you all know the story on this one... There are many versions of this necklace around, (even at Nordstroms) but I have not found one yet that is built just like these. I layer the glass to give the necklace dimension that no one else is doing. When you take this class you will learn how to make the necklace and you will leave with a soldering iron so that you can make more necklaces on your own later. The cost of this class is $45 and all supplies are included (even the soldering iron). Pre-registration is required. Also if you are under the are of 18 you will need to be accompanied by an "adult" because those irons get really hot...

I offered this class in December and it went over so well that I wanted to offer it again (for those of you that missed it during the busy season). I really like the concept behind this book, because I think that it is so important to reflect on what makes life worth living. Also let me tell you a little secret, this book will also be at the 7G's booth at this year's CHA winter show. (I'm excited!!!) So make a list of the ten things that you are grateful for, gather up two to three pictures that represent each item of gratitude and come join me to express what you are grateful for. The cost for this class is $45 and it includes all supplies. Pre-registration is required.

So the idea behind this book... LOVE!!! I made a book with the same concept last year for Valentine's Day for Michael (Mr. Lucky), really because I got busy and before I knew it I didn't have a present to give him. So I made this book for us to leave "love Notes" for each other. It has turned out to be one of the greatest little things in our life. The way it works is, you make the book and you leave the first "love note". Leave the note book where both parties can access it and you go back and forth, leaving each other notes. This does not have to be between you and your romantic better half. This would make a great way to connect also with your children. (You know those teenagers that you swear have been kidnapped by aliens) The notes don't always have to be sappy, sometimes they are just funny. I think that these books are the perfect way express how you feel even when you might have a hard time saying in person. This is a super easy class that will give you the perfect Valentine's gift. The cost of this class is $35 and it includes all of the supplies. Pre-registration is required.

Just in time for the new year "A year in review." This class is taught by Liz Eaton. And here is a description of the class straight from the horse's mouth... "I created this class to help us all remember where we have come from & where we are going. I think it’s a great idea to sum up the past year or to do it as the year is happening. The idea is to take one photo per month that captures or expresses that months happening & then to do brief some journaling to explain what happened that month. With the way that our society works these days, time flies by so fast we hardly have time to remember individual days, or at least I do. This is just a great way to look back & remember a few of the details that make up our lives. The cost of this class is $40 and it includes all supplies. Liz is a really great teacher and I think that all of you will love her classes. Pre-registration is required.
Class Date:
Friday, January 26, 6-9
This class is also being taught by Liz. Both this and "A Year in Review" will teach you some of the most innovative techniques. Liz is always coming up with the coolest way to use our products. Both of these classes are worth making the room in your schedule.
I bet you never thought you’d use your child’s board books to document your latest travels. Turn Goodnight Moon into Holland 2006. In this class, you will be creating a travelogue using a child’s board book and a variety of travel inspired products.
The idea is to use your creativity to make a totally unique & one of a kind memoir of a trip or vacation you have taken. each participant in the class will receive slightly different products. (for example, the board books, maps and patterned paper may vary.)
*credit card or brayer
*pen for journaling
* photos from your trip
*ephemera or mementos from your trip
*anything else from your own stash
The cost of this class is $40. Pre-registration is required.

The cost of this class is $45 and includes all of you supplies. Pre-registration is required.

Saturday, March 3, 2-5
Friday, March 9, 6-9

Book of the Month Club
Ok so we had tried this late last year and although the response was good I think that the class dates were hard for people to get to. So starting in February the last Saturday of each month from 10-1 we are offering the Book of the Month Club. Because we want to foster the creativity and provide everyone with education that they need to find their own voice. No matter what the book is the class will always be $25. Pre-registration is required. I will post pictures of the Book of the Month Club with each newsletter.
One last thing...
Liz is teaching one more class Friday, March 30 from 6-9. The class is still in development but will be revealed in the next few weeks. So stay tuned....
You may have noticed numbers next to the class descriptions... that is another one of the new features of our class schedules. The numbers represent class difficulty, one being the lowest and easiest level and three being the hardest. So of course you have to be honest with yourself about what your skill level is but these ratings are just guides. If there is a class that you are dying to take but you feel that it may be a bit above your skill level, you can still take it but you may not finish before the end of the class. Below are the descriptions of the ratings...
1 No experience required.
2 Basic Skills Needed. (i.e. stamping, scrapping techniques)
3 For those of you that should be teaching the classes yourself. Seriously intense.
That wraps up the class offerings for Lucky 15 for the first quarter. Please stay tuned for updated photos and other info about the store. If anyone has questions or needs more information about anything please feel free to email me or call the store.
Happy New Year!!!!
